Business Recovery in the Tourism Industry – Vaccination Policies and Workforce Restructuring.
About this event
This webinar is a collaboration between DunnCox Attorneys-at-Law, the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association, and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce.
As COVID-19 vaccines become available and businesses cautiously open their doors to tourists, employers are contemplating how industry rules and government directives may impact the health and safety of vaccinated and non-vaccinated employees as they interact with tourists. In this webinar we will explore the proper procedures for maintaining safe operations, adjusting employment contracts to facilitate vaccination policies and restructuring the workforce to facilitate a thriving industry and economy.
The major takeaways from the presentations will answer the following concerns:
- Can businesses lawfully refuse access to customers, visitors or consumers who have not received the Covid-19 Vaccine?
- Can businesses implement a vaccination policy for employees to follow, unilaterally or with the employee’s consent, and would that new policy be enforceable? Can a policy be implemented for new employees?
- How do companies treat with government directives regarding quarantine or home-isolation of infected or exposed/suspected employees? Should it be treated as sick leave, vacation leave, or unpaid leave, for example?
- How should a corporate vaccination policy address individual exception? For example: persons who may have allergic reactions to the vaccine, persons with religious reservations, etc.
- How can companies safely restructure their workforce to increase economic resilience, and mitigating risk to labour claims?
- What policy should be implemented regarding the non-compliance of double vaccinated persons not wanting to quarantine?
The moderator and presenters for this event are:
MODERATOR
Mr. Christopher Jarrett – Director and Honorary Secretary, Jamaica Chamber of Commerce
PRESENTERS
Mr. Clifton Reader – President, Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association and Managing Partner, Moon Palace
Mr. Emile Leiba – Partner, DunnCox Attorneys-at-Law and President, Jamaica Bar Association
Mr. Jonathan Morgan – Partner, DunnCox Attorneys-at-Law
The webinar will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10:00 am – 11:30 am.

Discover inspiring hotel concepts and the seven essential components to reinvent your hotel.
About this event
Technology, changing consumer behaviour and deregulation are challenging hospitality at its core. What’s more, these trends have been accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis, and are forcing hoteliers to review the fundamentals of their value proposition. How can you offer more than “a place to sleep and eat”? How to unlock new areas of growth? And how to promote a coherent and compelling guest experience?
Often, the answer to these questions is putting in place an effective hotel concept.
But what exactly is a hotel concept? How do you create one? And how do you implement it?
Drawing on our successful Hotel Concept Handbook – resulting from a collaboration with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne – we will share with you inspiration and practical advice to (re)invent your hotel.
In this insight-packed webinar you will:
- Learn about the 7 components (of the Hotel Concept Framework) that are part of every great hotel concept
- Discover exclusive examples of successful hotel concepts – from a Japanese hotel that doubles as a fashion label to a Parisian Café that produces its own music
- Find out how you can not only adapt your hotel to the latest trends, but become a trendsetter yourself
- Get the chance to ask questions about your hotel to Creative Supply’s expert team
Whether your objective is to reinvent your hotel from top to bottom or simply to broaden your knowledge, this session will give you ideas and motivation to build or improve your hotel concept.
Session schedule
16:30 Introduction
16:35 Global inspirations and best practices for your hotel
17:00 Plenary discussion and closing
